Working On A Cruise Ship; The Perfect Way To Travel And Earn
Recruitment for cruise ships broaches many industry sectors, not just the travel industry. You must think of the cruise ship as a floating holiday resort and hence there is a wide variety of jobs on offer. The general number for types of jobs is around 300 as well as opportunities at cruise headquarters and ports, hence recruitment efforts are expansive. As a cruise ship employee you will be able to travel to the places of you dreams and not only see them but get paid for the pleasure.
So what would make you eligible for recruitment in the cruise sector of the travel industry? Normally cruise liners are looking for recently graduated students, those looking for a career change and candidates with excellent interpersonal skills. In terms of the sector you may already be in, the variety is diverse; customer relations, gaming and gambling, fitness, health and beauty, childcare as well as cooking and waiting positions all go through periods of recruitment. Not to mention the large number of entertainment staff that are needed to give the passengers a holiday they will never forget.
So how would you get one of these jobs? Firstly look at what types of job are going through periods of recruitment and see which of your skills may applicable. Try and make yourself eligible for more than one and your chances will be improved. As in any industry the travel industry requires you to sell yourself to the best of your ability. Give the cruise company a good impression of your skills and your qualifications for a particular job. Rather than just give your past accomplishments by presenting yourself as a candidate who is willing to learn and holds the passenger's enjoyment as a primary principle, you will be far more appealing for recruitment.
Working on a cruise ship does not necessarily mean that you will be away for years at a time. With recruitment periods occurring regularly there are many short term opportunities. The usual period of work lasts for six to nine months with time off for a few months, the chance to travel for the majority of the year is envious. It is possible to hold another job for your off period, making working on a cruise ship and ideal way to travel and see the world without the financial burden.
While the pay on a cruise ship is not fantastic it is not poor either. The pay compares to similar jobs on land, if a little less. The main benefit is that as you are on a ship and subsequently your living expenses are practically non-existent. Imagine a world with no rent, no bills and no shopping; on a cruise ship your bed and board are included so as you travel around the world you will be in fact saving money. Whether you save your money or blow it all when you call into a port it is up to you; whatever your choice, a good time is guaranteed.
Working on a cruise ship definitely has its benefits, if you think you can cope with the long periods away from home and the occasional rough seas it is a major consideration. For those who like to travel and see the world, the opportunity could be seen as perfect. So keep a look out for the next recruitment drive from one of the major cruising companies and you may find yourself cruising the Caribbean or the Mediterranean in no time.
