Receivers Used In Satellite Radio
These Receivers can come in the form of auto car stereos, add on receivers that hook up to your already installed car stereo, boom boxes, home audio receivers with satellite receiver capability and portable devices that allow you to pick up the satellite signal no matter where you go. The portable devices have their own energy source and are similar to size and shape as electronic gadgets. This type of receivers usually cost from about $30 to over $300. And in order to receive satellite signals not only do you need one of these receivers, but you must contact satellite radio and activate your receiver. Typically they will ask for your special receiver code so they can digitally unlock your receiver so that it can now decode the encrypted satellite signals. And at the same time that you unlock and activate your receiver, you will also usually give your credit card number or a gift card number to pay for your service.
Satellite radio is extremely popular with people that want more entertainment and programming choices from their radio with less commercials and interruptions. It is similar to cable TV, where you pay a small fee each month to receive superior programming. We can receive over 150 different channels, many with commercial free music, talk show personalities and quality sports programming. Sequentially to receive satellite radio, you must first have a special receiver that includes a chip set and usually an antenna to acquire the signal, encode it and decompress the signal so that you can hear near CD quality broadcasts either in your car, at home or on the go in a portable unit. As most people listen to the radio when they drive, the vast majority of radios are car audio units. We have three main types of radio units that can play in our car they are portable receivers, aftermarket car stereos that include built in controls for Radio and car manufacturer's stock radios that include a compatible Radio car stereo. The stock radios already include a special radio antenna and any other hardware necessary to enjoy radio. We have five main methods to installing a radio in your car; they include Cassette Adapters, Wireless FM Modulators, Hardwired FM Modulator, Aftermarket Hardwired Adapters and XM Compatible Stock Radio.
