Is It Possible To Learn To Play The Piano Without Having A Piano Teacher?

It's possible to learn anything you want if you have a guide and you're prepared to put the effort in needed to learn. To learn to play the piano you will need a piano course, which you can download from the internet.

To start learning to play the piano, obviously you need a keyboard of some kind. This can a be a standard acoustic piano or electric keyboard or an accordion or even a roll up piano. Next, you need a piano course, preferably software that you can download. Next, decide how much you want to pay for your piano course, this can vary from five pounds to fifty pounds.

Download your piano course and start learning

When you have found your piano course and downloaded it, you can start learning immediately. You need to set yourself goals. A piano teacher would give you a piece of music to practice and hopefully complete for the next lesson. You need to do the same for yourself. Ideally, you need to set a practice time every day and also set a minimum practice time, for example half and hour per day. It's all right to do more than half an hour but don't go below your set minimum time.

Which piano course is the best to start with?

It all depends on your budget which course you start with. Think of it like this, the more you pay for course, the more there will be to learn. On the other hand, you could start with a cheaper course and when you have completed that, buy another one and build your knowledge up gradually as you would with a piano teacher.

How long will it take to learn the piano?

This is an interesting question because there are different levels of piano playing. If you learn to play your first piece of music, it might take you a couple of weeks in which case you could say it takes two weeks to learn to play. If you want to learn to play jazz music or classical music then obviously this is going to take longer. This is why goals are important. Ask yourself how long it will take to complete my first goal and then the second goal and so on. Learning to play the piano is a gradual process. As long as you have the desire to play the piano you really can't fail.

If you really want to learn how to play the piano there's nothing stopping you, except, maybe yourself. Do it now, you wont regret it.
