Saving Money In Your Home
Do the best you can to cut down on your utility usage during the month. There are a lot of ways to do this. Use less electricity by turning off the lights and other appliances when there is no one in a room. You should also set your thermostat to a cooler temperature during the winter months, since you can always use more blankets at night when you are sleeping. If you have a fireplace, you can use that instead, because in most instances, a truck load of firewood is less expensive than your heating bill will be at the end of the month.
Saving money on your water bill is also pretty easy to do, since all this requires is that you use less water where possible. Make everyone in the house take showers instead of baths, since these will use less water, depending on how long the shower is. Try to cut it down to around 10 minutes or so.
Try to cut out purchasing snack food at the grocery store. Most snack foods have next to no nutritional value and they can be expensive, so cut these out for a while and put the money to better use. Purchasing fresh foods to cook instead of frozen dinners can also be cheaper, since when you purchase frozen dinners they are typically unhealthy and you are paying more for the convenience of the meal being so easy to prepare than the nutritional value. These can be the most expensive items in the store per ounce. Learn to cook with fresh ingredients and where possible, purchase generic brand items instead of name brands, since these will be significantly cheaper and in most cases, you will not notice a loss of quality.
The last thing that you want to do is cut out any other unnecessary spending until you get your debts taken care of. This includes cutting out any activity lessons you may be taking, such as dance, art, karate, and etcetera. Trips to the coffee shop also count.
