Can Acne Lead To Mental Disorder

Though sounds weird but acnes can very much be the cause of depression and mental disorder. Acne Dysmorphia has little to do with skin trouble but more to take the shape of a mental disease. An unnecessary thought that your skin is bad and dull will make you feel low and thereby you will develop the complexity that you are suffering from skin disease. You will constantly remain obsessed about your skin even if there is no sign of acne on it.

A psycho problem

Acne Dysmorphia is predominantly a psychological problem. But how can it happen to someone who is not suffering from acnes anyway? To derive a logical answer is quite difficult but it has been found out that those typically suffering from this mental disorder at some point of the lifetime had suffered acutely from acnes.

The pain and fear of the suffering somehow had affected the subconscious mind and in the long run the person gradually loses faith on the fact that he or she has been cured. The pangs of sufferings repeatedly provoke the person that acnes are still there on the skin and giving an ugly shape to it. This develops a negative personality and the person becomes very irritated at small things. Losing confidence in such a situation is a common plight.

Obsessed with negative beliefs

Acne Dysmorphia will repeatedly make you feel insignificant and worthless because your skin is dark, dull and full of scars. You may consider it very funny but the patients of acne dysmorphia will never take the initiative to visit the doctor and find out what the real trouble is. This clearly indicates that the patients are actually aware that there is no acne on the body and it is their mere belief that they love to tame. Hence the problem is nothing else but a psychological disease.

Positive thinking is must

The major problem in treating these patients is that they will not try to think in a straightforward and positive manner. On one hand they will create their own world where they will love to feel that they are suffering from acnes. On the other they will never agree to the fact they the problem is not physical but very much psychological.

These patients can be cured through psychological counseling and cognitive therapies to change behavioral pattern. If you have someone like this at home, immediately rush to a psychiatrist or a psychological counselor instead of a dermatologist.
