The tattoo gun is the main implement used to administer your tattoo. Indeed it is the tattoo gun that uses needles to penetrate ink into the outer layer of your skin to create the tattoo. You don't need to concern yourself about the tattoo gun because as long as it is being operated by an experienced tattoo artist, then there is nothing to worry about. These items are designed to be as painless as possible.

As regards the needles themselves, there are two different types of needle used. When choosing a tattoo artist you should always ask them about their sterilization procedure before they start creating your tattoo. They should be using an autoclave to sterilize all of their equipment after each procedure. This is basically an item found in hospitals that uses steam and pressure to make sure all equipment is fully sterilized.

So to sum up, the basic tattoo equipment you need to be aware of are the tattoo gun and needles, and the autoclave. Once you know a little bit about the equipment that is used, then your fears about getting your first tattoo done will soon disappear.
