For those who have a yellowish hue to their skin tone, you definitely want to avoid any yellow, gold or orange tones. Those colors will only wash you out and make you look unhealthy. Your best bet is to stick to something like a deep red, which will serve as a perfect contrast to your skin. And lastly, if you have an olive skin tone, you will be served best by a darker color to enhance your features.

Although it may sound silly, it is never a bad idea to consider the colors of clothing you typically wear before you decide on a new hair color. If you find yourself wearing colors like red, orange, golden yellow, olive green or rust and think they look best on you then you probably want to choose a color that has a warm tone to it. Good examples of neutrals are beige blonde, mahogany, sandy blonde and chocolate brown.
