Anxiety Disorders And How To Deal With Them

Anxiety disorders are prevalent in modern times. Up to 30 percent of the American population is affected by an Anxiety disorder.

It is important to realize that anxiety is a normal reaction to stress. When one feels anxious they often describe feelings of apprehension, fear, or worry. But this worry is usually not based on facts; it may be illogical or irrational.

Anxiety attacks come without warning leaving the victim confused and irritable in addition to the worry. Not surprisingly the sufferer is likely to experience bouts of fatigue and exhaustion.

When the body experiences this extreme worry it responds. Anxiety disorders can be both chronic and debilitating. They sometimes begin early in life but they can be triggered by a stressful event.

Anxiety disorders seem to worsen during times of high stress. The sufferer often develops other health issues as time goes on. Common complaints include:
... Headaches
... Sweating
... Palpitations
... Hypertension

Very often the patient will develop clinical depression. Obviously this is an issue that deserves attention and medical diagnosis.

But there are ways that you can begin controlling your anxiety right now. There are many simple little things that you may or may not have tried already. For example:

..Talk to yourself;Be supportive to yourself just as you would to a friend or loved one

...Try muscle relaxation.;Start from the top of your head and work your way down slowly releasing tension as you go

...Leave the environment.;You may find that just getting away from the surroundings you are in will make you feel better

...Practice conscious breathing.;Focus on breathing slowly and deeply, keeping your breathes regular and even

...Go to your magical place in your mind.;Close your eyes and imagine the most wonderful place you can, then picture yourself in the middle of it all; the next step is a little more difficult but you can do it with practice, do more than picture yourself there, feel yourself there, feel the surroundings and smell the smells, free your mind to enjoy the experience

...In with the good and out with bad.;Close your eyes and focus on your breathing. Imagine that you are full of ugly breath and in order to rid yourself of the anxiety you must rid yourself of the ugly breath. You will instead fill your lungs with the beautiful air that is waiting for you.;I always imagine breathing out gray smoke and breathing in small beautiful purple sparkly air. Take your time until you truly feel you have gotten rid of the ugly air.

There are countless little exercises like that you may want to try, the point is that you should try something and keep trying things until you find something that works for you.

Take control of the situation and get control of your life!
