Managing Your Acid Alkaline Balance
When we are acidic, disease, cancer, bacteria, viruses, yeast and fungus can all thrive. It is difficult if not impossible for any of these conditions to live in an alkaline environment. There are many naturopathic doctors and holistic practitioners who are now doing their best to spread the world on the importance of following and alkaline diet and managing your PH can mean all the difference in the world to your health.
The human body has an amazing way of protecting itself. When we are too acidic, our bodies try to protect us by neutralizing the acids and raising our PH. The problem is, the ways it does this is not the best for our long term health interests. One way our body raises our PH is by leaching alkaline minerals like calcium from out bones. This can lead to weakened bones and even risk of osteoporosis.
Another way our body protects us from acids is by binding them to fats and storing them in our midsection. So you see, it is difficult to lose weight if you are too acidic because your body is trying to neutralize the acids by storing them as fat.
The next question is, what can I do to raise my PH?
The first thing you should do to try to raise your PH is by eating more alkaline foods, and less acidic foods. The most common alkaline foods are green vegetables like kale, spinach, almonds and more. Some of the acidic foods are meats, dairy products, sugar, alcohol, soda pop, and more.
Strangely, some foods that are acidic actually have an alkaline forming action in the body. The best example of this is lemons and citrus fruits. While they are very acidic on their own, once metabolized, they become very alkaline forming in the blood.
If you have a hard time following an alkaline diet, there are some things you can do to help boost your PH.
The easiest and most convenient way to boost your PH is by adding alkaline drops to your drinking water. PH drops are tasteless and are very effective at raising the alkalinity of the water you drink.
Supplement green drinks and minerals is another good way to raise your PH. Many people prefer taking their minerals in the evening as they can help to keep your body alkaline overnight.
