In numerous instances possessor's insuring organizations did not compensate for the losses suffered by these hurricane victims and their loved ones. Many of these people had no alternative but to recover the largest amount of their things as possible. Furnishings are expensive and some families are not in a state to get new furniture. So it is favourable that in some cases pieces of furniture that has been water damaged by a flood may very well be saved. This is especially true if the damage is not too comprehensive. The place to start is to get the furniture out of the house so it can be thoroughly washed and disinfected. Take out drawers with care. If they are caught, force them out gently. Removing the back and pressing them out could be successful. Once they are sanitized, the furnishings should be put back somewhere indoors so they can dry out slowly.
