Gardening The Natural Way!

Due to the many negative consequences of pesticides and toxins that we ingest in our system by eating food bought from the market, many people have turned to doing some bit of organic gardening on their own. The exhilaration that one feels when one sees a garden-full of colorful flowers and plants is something only the creator can explain. Even as organic food is easily available in supermarkets these days, doing it on your own has a charm of its own and no food tastes better than food grown organically in the backyard.

By definition, organic marketing involves no pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers or artificial supplements. Even though garden pests and weeds exist in such gardens, they can be tackled ingenuously, just like our forefathers used to, before the advent of all the chemical aids that were invented. For example, a method of getting rid of bothersome plant louse is to plant marigolds near the vegetables and nature shall take its own course in removing these annoying creatures. It also proves to be less costly and allows you to know that you are not adding toxins to the food that you are consuming.

Another very interesting part of organic gardening is the process of making compost. It definitely is more challenging and exciting as compared to buying a bag of fertilizer from the market and unloading it in the garden patch. All you need is the garden and kitchen waste that includes items like vegetable peels and dead plants. To this you can add rose prunings to improve texture and coffee beans to avoid the stench. Do ensure that all the raw material that you use is dry unless you want to get your hands really dirty!

To keep weeds away, you can concoct a mixture of pine needles and grass clippings and to you can get rid of some garden pests by spraying a unique creation of cooking oil, dishwasher soap and water.

With organic gardening you can ensure that the food that you eat is toxin-free and your garden is devoid of any chemicals. It ensures that the zone is a pesticide-free zone for your children to play in. The hobby of organic gardening can also be a great thing to teach your children and compost making can be a fun filled activity. Running around, spraying the garden pests with your concoction shall definitely be an activity they will love. Most of all, organic gardening allows you to have a connection and contact with nature, something that most of us have long forgotten in the modern day.
