The Story Of The Rose

But what makes this shrub so special? Why has the rose become so popular, especially in modern times? There are many theories surrounding the rose's rise to prominence, and most are based on myth and stories of the heart. The fact remains that roses offer so much more to the giver and to the receiver than just the simple act of giving and receiving.

The rose itself is a flowering shrub from the Rosa family. The flower of this shrub is called the rose. There are over one hundred species of roses and these are all indigenous to the northern hemisphere regions. However, roses are planted everywhere around the world.

This is mainly due to the fact that they are so adaptable to many soil types and also due to the fact that there is always a massive demand for roses all year round.

So, when is the best time to give roses? The amazing thing is that there is never a bad time to give someone a bunch of roses or even just a single rose. Roses say so much more than any other gift. They surpass chocolates, jewellery and other material possessions. They can be given on any occasion. Birthdays. Anniversaries. Valentine's Day. Mother's Day. Even for no occasion at all.

The rose in itself is an anomaly. What makes this flower any more special than daisies or blossoms? What gives this thorny plant the stature that it has so proudly borne for all these years? The answer lies in its symbolism. Each flower symbolises something different. Something unique. The rose is the queen of all flowers. Although the rose is often portrayed as red, it comes in many other colours. The red rose symbolises passion and fervour. The yellow rose is a symbol of understatement, and these are given to tell someone that you are intersected.

Roses have even been cultivated to add to food and health products. Many top beauty ranges carry rose scented body washes and fragrances. Rose flavoured tea is also a firm favourite in many cultures, and rose petals have been hailed to have amazing healing properties for many centuries across many different civilizations.

Dried out rose petals are also commonplace in many households as an aesthetic touch. Rose bushes are also planted in many gardens and there is a very special art to maintaining these beautiful plants. Many people even cultivate roses just to enter into competitions.

There is so much that a bunch of roses can say. The art is to give a bunch of roses not only on special occasions, but also to say someone special that you are thinking of them at even the most unexpected time.
