Household Items can Control Mold

Whenever you notice that we have mold growth anywhere in our house, it is a dangerous thing. Toxic forms of mold will lead to all kinds of allergic reactions for humans and animals. It could cause terrible breathing difficulties, skin conditions, throat soreness, sneezing, nausea, and other ailments. People who have weakened immune systems may be extra sensitive to mold.

After you have noticed it somewhere in your living space, it is vital to get rid of it as fast as you can. Mold will only keep on growing and come back if it is not destroyed completely. The mold may come from different water sources. Water drips are one of the most common ways. Be sure you have no leaks behind your walls where sinks, bathtubs, showers, or a washing machine is. Mold growing inside walls can be very difficult to destroy and in numerous instances the walls will have to be torn out and replaced.

Basements that keep a very much dampness, especially while it is the wet or winter seasons, may also be a space where it will frequently be found. Getting a humidifier or fan will help reduce moisture and humidity. With a bad basement dampness problem, frequently the only permanent solution is to hire a water damage professional.

These are numerous areas where you can find mold and all mold killing products might not be easy for you to use. Chlorine bleach or other toxic mold destroyers might not be a choice for you if you are sensitive, have pets or children, or if you want to use a natural solution that will also kill the mold.

Tea tree oil may be applied to destroy mold. It does have a very strong aroma that a number of people do not like. It can also be a little expensive, but a small amount will go a long way. Since tea tree oil is frequently good for medicinal reasons, it is safe to use.

Vinegar is also a well known natural remedy that is excellent for cleaning many things. It is easy to use to run through your coffee maker. It will remove nastiness on the inside really well and remove the bitterness that can make the coffee taste bad from the build up of residue. Put vinegar full strength in a spray container to destroy mold. If you use it to remove things from fabric, dilute it with water first. There is no need to rinse from many surfaces.

Borax is also effective to kill mold growth. It will work great for walls and cement. Mix about a cup of borax to a gallon of water. Use a scrub brush to clean the surface thoroughly. Wait at least three days and if there is a dusty residue, vacuum it off. Do not mix borax and vinegar together because they can neutralize each other and will be ineffective.
