Can Email Marketing Help Your Business?

Internet marketers and small businesses alike have been using email marketing for many years now to promote their products and services to potential clients and customers. But in recent years spam laws have made it more difficult for companies to get their emails past the spam filters and when done wrong email marketing can even carry with it stiff penalties.

While it is true that there are new obstacles for email marketing the reality is that email marketing may perhaps be more important now than ever. With so many businesses competing for a piece of the online pie, personal relationships with potential customers are becoming more and more important.

Rather than simply send out promotional emails to a list of your own or one that you purchased it is now becoming a more profitable strategy to put more personal attention into a smaller, more highly targeted list. Or in other words, quality verses quantity.

A great way to use email marketing for your business is to create a website that offers something free that relates to your niche. Lets say that you sell weight loss supplements; perhaps you might offer a free cookbook full of low fat recipes, or an ebook about weight loss. While it is important to give high quality content with your freebie, it is also important that that freebie encourages an even greater appetite for what you are selling.

The idea is simple, you give somebody something that helps them for free and then later you offer them something that will help them even more for money. Once they have purchased from you, you offer them something else that is more expensive and promises even more help. It is, however, very important that your products are all real value. You need to ask yourself, am I doing them a favor by selling them this item for this price or are they doing me a favor by buying it at this price. If the answer is the later then you are toast. If it is the former, than with a little bit of luck, you will have success for many years to come.

The first step with email marketing is a quality autoresponder. A good autoresponder will automate nearly every aspect of your email marketing campaign. There are many good autoresponders out there but be sure to find one that is CAN SPAM compliant and that offers unlimited autoresponder campaigns, messages, and message length.
