Why So Many Women Are Beginning To Wear Men's Shoes
If you find that you are a woman in such a category, first consider what you can buy in women's shoes, only because they may fit more of the style you're looking for. If you get men's shoes you might be limited to having to buy ones that are more neutral in appearance. You can try to get specialized women's shoes by seeing what is available online, as there are a number of shoe stores on the Internet that target individuals needing special-sized shoes. And these are not custom shoes either. They are normal shoes that are either narrower or wider than normal. In fact, even "wide width" shoes are available in some shoe stores, though they tend to not be as stocked as the traditional shoes.
Should the option of trying to get a better woman's shoe still not work, make sure the men's shoe you get is your right size. You can get your foot professionally measured at a shoe store to determine the size you're going to need. And don't necessarily think that you'll need to get something that is much bigger. In fact, as ironic as it sounds, in the United States it is actually women's shoes that are bigger, at least numerically. They tend to be the same size as men shoes, with 1.5 added onto it. For example a man's 10.5 shoe would be a 12 in women's sizes. So, keep this in mind if you do consider getting men's shoes.
Now, if you've never bought men's shoes before, you may get some strange looks if you try them on. If you're in such a situation, you can either ignore the person or explain that you have a unique foot size that requires you to have to get a larger shoe. And even though women's shoes are larger than men's, this is only in terms of numerical value. Size-wise men's shoes will be bigger. The person may still laugh at you, but if they do that's their ignorance. You can't worry about what society thinks. Besides, if shoe manufacturers were more understanding of the needs of people with larger or wider feet, a woman wouldn't have to resort to getting men's shoes in the first place.
