Protein is the food that will help build muscle mass. It can be found mostly in meat, dairy and nut products. This is also the most important part of body building food that you will need in order to succeed as a bodybuilder. Combined with exercise, protein will help build muscle mass and weight, and also help to burn fat and increase metabolism. When choosing the right amounts of protein, keep in mind to choose lean red meat and chicken, as well as tuna and eggs. Overall health is important, so keep to foods that have low concentrations of trans fat, which will not increase your cholesterol levels. Protein shakes also work well, but you have to be picky because not all of them are equally effective. Many of the shakes out there are 90% less effective than what you'd think. Ask your trainer about the brands that give the best results.
Simple and complex sugars, also known as carbohydrates, are the fuel that supply your body with energy. Be careful, because carbs are converted to fat if you consume too much. Use carbs moderately, in balance with what your level of exercise requires. The purpose is to build lean muscles and avoid putting on extra fat. Without carbs you won't have energy to do your workouts, but just don't overdo it. Your rate of metabolism determines how fast your body burns carbs. Again, it is best to talk to your trainer to see if carbs can be a good body building food for you.
