Known worldwide, the National Park is the second oldest after Yellowstone in America. While there, three mountains Mount Ruapehu, Mount Ngauruhoe, and Tongariro are some of the greatest wonders on your New Zealand tour. The last eruption in 1995 occurred when Mount Ruapehu sent several lahars outward with plumes of ash and rock. Ruapehu is the tallest mountain on North Island and also the primary skiing location in the region. With a crater lake filled with acidic water, it is color is quite brilliant.
